Jessica MacManus - Executive Director Jessica MacManus is a New Mexico-based wildlife biologist and environmental educator. She fell in love with Africa as an undergraduate student in Tanzania during 2003, and has returned as frequently as possible since then. She’s conducted Fulbright Scholarship-funded research on cheetahs in Namibia, lead tours for National Geographic through Tanzania, and traveled extensively throughout the continent. Jessica is a Teach For America Corps member, and currently teaches science at both the high school and college level. She is a firm believer that every student deserves a high-quality education. In her own words: “I met Elvis when we were working together for National Geographic in 2011. I was immediately impressed by his intelligence, thirst for an education, and ability to see every roadblock as a challenge rather than a problem. After my first conversation with him, I knewI wouldn’t rest until he received the education he deserved.”Jessica and Elvis would like to give a heartfelt thank you to our staff who worked tirelessly for months to ensure our little idea, dreamed up on the shores of Zanzibar, would become a concrete option to send Tanzanian students to college. |
